About Transitional Clay

Barry’s story begins in Inglewood, California, where his earliest years were shaped by grandparents who modeled faith, education, discipline, and service. His grandfather was a minister, and his grandmother was a strong woman of faith. The seeds they planted became a foundation he would one day need.

Adolescence brought disruption, rebellion, and deep pain. At sixteen, Barry lost his father to colon cancer. Although basketball gave him a place to succeed outwardly, grief, anger, addiction, and destructive choices followed him into college and adulthood. He appeared strong while inwardly running from God—and from himself.

At twenty-nine, Barry met his wife, Shannon, whose love reminded him that God had never stopped pursuing him. Through marriage, fatherhood, Scripture, prayer, discipleship, and a healthy Christian community, Barry confronted old wounds and found freedom.

Today, as a husband, father, community leader, mentor, coach, and host of Transitional Clay, Barry speaks from lived experience—not theory. He shares his story so others can recognize what God can do with a surrendered life.
